Remember the Doritos Girl from the 1998 Super Bowl commercial? That was Ali Landry, and that 29-second ad changed her life overnight.
Let’s find out what Ali Landry has been doing since busting her chip-catching chops in a laundromat.
From Beauty Queen to Breakout Star
Ali Landry, born on July 21, 1973, already had a few credits (or should I say sashes!) before becoming a household name. Growing up in Cecilia, Louisiana, she began competing in beauty pageants as a teen.
She clinched the titles Miss Louisiana Teen USA in 1990 and Miss USA in 1996. She joined the 1996 Miss Universe but didn’t take home the crown.
Still, her pageantry run opened doors to the entertainment industry. Before her big break, she scored minor roles in TV shows like “Clueless” and “Conan the Adventurer.”
However, her Doritos commercial during the 1998 Super Bowl turned Ali into an overnight sensation.
Acting and Hosting Career
After her Doritos fame, Ali Landry kept busy building her acting resume. She had recurring roles in the following TV shows:
- Pensacola: Wings of Gold (1998–2000)
- Felicity (2000)
- Eve (2003–2006)
- The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (2020–2022)
She also made guest appearances on several shows, including:
- Two Guys and a Girl (2000)
- Inside Schwartz (2001)
- Fastlane (2003)
- Criminal Minds (2008)
- Kevin Can Wait (2018)
Ali Landry tried her hand at a few movies, though with mixed success. She appeared in flicks like “Beautiful” and “Repli-Kate,” which weren’t blockbusters.
Ali worked on the films “Bella” and “Little Boy” from her director husband Alejandro Monteverde.
Besides her acting career, Ali took on hosting gigs over the years:
- Primetime Comedy (1998)
- Miss Universe (1999)
- Farmclub.com (2001)
- Spy TV (2002)
- Hollywood Today Live (2016–2017)
Love and Family Life
Married twice, life outside of the spotlight has been just as eventful.
Ali Landry dated Mario Lopez for six years before getting married in 2004. But their marriage lasted only two weeks before Ali had it annulled. Ali discovered that Mario had been cheating on her throughout their relationship.
In his 2014 memoir, Mario admits he never truly loved Ali Landry. Lopez is now happily married to his second wife, Courtney Mazza, whom he wed in December 2012.
After Ali Landry’s short-lived marriage with the dimpled TV host, she found lasting love with “Sound of Freedom” director Alejandro Monteverde. The former Miss Teen is now happier than ever.
Her most favorite role yet? Being a mom to Estela, Marcelo, and Valentin! You can catch snippets of her life on Instagram.
Wellness Guru and Entrepreneur
Today, at 48, Landry looks as radiant as ever. She’s channeled her passion for health and wellness into a new venture called RE/SHAPE Live.
Through this platform, she shares resources and products for healthier living, inspired by her experiences with common health issues.
Ali Landry is also the founder of Spokesmom, a product review website for moms.
